PP1 - Aardman Nathan Love & Turtle Journey

These two animations show how a signature style can be used in different and equally effective ways to create polar opposite reactions.

The logo reveal used Aardman's signature style and playfulness, and combined it with Nathan Love's gritty 3d realism to create a visually stunning and epic announcement. I loved this due to how effective it was at making this partnership seem interesting, as it showed future clients and the audience how fun a collaboration between the two companies can be. It made me laugh with it's goofiness, and it made me excited to see more.

Turtle Journey on the other hand used Aardman's familiarity to deliver the message with more impact. I normally associate the Aardman style with the aforementioned qualities - fun, playful, exciting. Yet the bond we form with this turtle family (aided by the intelligent storytelling and relatability of it) is used to make us care more than we previously would, and really hammers the message across. Where the other animation made me laugh, this one made me cry, and I don't believe it would be as powerful without that familiar Aardman style.
